Comic Reading Log - April
Welcome to the new feature I plan on doing at as each month wraps. Aside from books, I also read comics and though I write for a comic book website, I don’t do a ton of reviews because it always seemed odd to have thousand-word reviews on a twenty page comic book. Instead I plan to keep a monthly log of the books I read and my thoughts on the recent issue/storyline.
Less Marvel & Star Wars at SDCC?
Now that Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars, will they have a smaller footprint at SDCC in favor of Disney’s own D23 Expo?
The SDCC Unofficial Blog brought up some interesting thoughts today on how Disney’s ownership of Marvel and Star wars might effect what we see from them at SDCC.
Simple economics would seem to indicate that it is unwise of Disney to give something away free at a show other than their own; this is even more true when their own show is only three weeks later.
They go on to point out that even Marvel’s presence has not been the same since Disney bought them, the only exception being non-D23 Expo years, like last year when they had a huge Iron Man setup. In 2011, most of their huge Avengers moments were saved for their own Expo.
All the leaked Iron Man concept armor art along with closeups of the armors flying in the background of the new official Iron Man 3 poster. I don’t know about the Hulkbuster armor (the big hunchbacked one) but looks like the white Space Armor and possibly the Heartbreaker Armor (with the large chestplate) are both pictured in the poster.

I made this Iron Man Wallpaper years ago after the first film. There was as similar shot floating around but was lower quality, sky looked bad so I cut Iron Man out, cleaned him up a little and pasted him onto a nice sky and added the flares. Now I’m finding the pic on wallpaper sites. Not really worried about it, I’ve had actual photography stolen before, that I worry about. Here I didn’t take the sky or Iron Man pics, just created the image and posted it for people online, so as long as they aren’t charging I don’t care. But still surprising when you see something you made somewhere you didn’t expect.
